In the US student loans come under two brackets - the Federal Loan and Private Loan.You may find it is better to mix and match different types of student loan to access the right amount of money for you, and even more importantly with the right terms - this means interest rates and the time permitted to repay. Do not agree to something now just to get your hands on the money, that you will struggle with later.
Think carefully and remember, when it comes to your student loan banks are not doing you a favour lending you money, YOU are doing THEM a favour. By agreeing to repay them you are giving them a guaranteed income stream. They wouldn't lend you money if you weren't a good bet to repay them. So, shop around.!
